Inventory/Paperwork

A detailed inventory and condition report is prepared by the driver and you are supposed to sign it after verifying what has been written.

The inventory form will contain each and every detail of items and damages (if any) to them. All the cartons are properly tagged or labeled with colored pencils. Be there with the driver at the time of inventory list creation to point out the things to which you want him to give special concern. It might be regarding handling the goods along the way.

You will be required to sign the inventory list to acknowledge the loadings and all. A copy of the list will be with you with the sign of driver. This list will assist you to match the articles mentioned in it at the time of unloading.

You also need to sign the bill of lading which is contract saying that you authorize the van to transfer your goods and are going to pay the company for this service. This document acts as a proof or confirmation of the services. This also severs the purpose of confirming pickup and delivery as well as the estimation and protection plan you select. Delivery of your possessions

A very significant thing for you to get in touch with your move coordinator once you are in your new house to get the arrangements made for final delivery. You will be contacted by the driver 24 hours before he arrives in your new place to get the confirmation on the delivery address. Having a prior idea or planning of where to place what will expedite the unloading process. The driver and his helpers are supposed to reassemble the things they had disassembled at the origin. Notify your move coordinator in case of missing of damage of goods in the transportation by making a note on the inventory as well as the driver's copy.

Payment

Your van driver will be taking the payment from you if any other arrangements have not been made in advance. You are supposed to pay the bill before the process of unloading. Money order, travelers' checks, certified or cashier's check or cash can be used to pay the van line. Personal checks are not acceptable. Credit cards are accepted by many agents. You will be having a copy of the bill of lading as receipt.

Unpacking

Unpacking services can also be provided by your move coordinator if you pay for it. They will unpack your cartons by removing packing materials.
